When I was invited to participate in this exhibit I was instantly intrigued. The name itself, Life Blood, implies a force that cannot be halted. The theme of menstruation, which is unfortunately taboo in our society, touches all of us. Obviously, for women, it defines a large part of our existence. It can be positive or negative, but it's certainly unavoidable. For men, it's easier to ignore, or pretend it's a "women's issue". The fact of the matter is, none of us would exist without it. For this reason I felt it important to participate in a show that will hopefully raise awareness, and make this fact of life less shameful.
